The new Digic III chip adds face recognition, better image quality, and allows for faster picture taking. My recommendation is to get the SD800 IS it is the only one with image stabilization and now with wide angel support.

Wendy, my girlfriend, has used her Powershot IXUS 800/Powershot SD700 (U.S. name/European and Asian name) for a couple of months without any hassles. Battery life is astonishing. We sometimes wonder if it will ever run out. The picture quality is very good and the speed with which it can take them, makes it a truly point and click camera.
